Born and raised in an adventurous family, I grew up exploring BC’s coast. These early explorations have led to a lifelong love of the coast. Inspired by the coastal landscape, I strive to capture its beauty in my watercolour paintings. For years I have kept “Illustrated Journals”, small sketchbooks full of drawings, paintings and notes, attempting to capture special moments and/or images of my coastal life. More recently I have begun to translate these small images into larger paintings. I am thoroughly enjoying the process of pulling together my inspirations, fine arts training and the years of sketching into finished paintings.
A few years ago I fulfilled a life long dream of living in a remote coastal community and moved to the small island community of Sointula, just off the north end of Vancouver Island. I share my life in Sointula with my artist husband, Tim Motchman, a woodcarver who creates beautiful carvings. Our studios are in our home, which we share with our pets and keep a large garden for growing food and beautiful plants.
